• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: The Wild Blue Yonder (Gen, PG)

Evan-focused gen fic set after Search and Rescue. Enjoyable character study that focuses on Evan, Rodney and John and the way their (professional/collegial) relationships intersect.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Under the Influence (McKay/Sheppard, PG13)

John gets stoned on a mission and Rodney has to babysit him due to plot devices. Eh, not really my thing. The John stoned bit was funny, but the I thought you were lying to protect my feelings when you, Rodney, bluntly said what you think is a trope that just doesn't work with this pairing no matter how many times it gets written.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: This Never Would Have Happened To Gilligan (McKay/Sheppard, PG)

More gen than ship-fic. Interesting and mysterious story where the Atlantis crew have some partial memory loss and are stuck in a shield protected "compound' they can't escape from.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Satedan Justice (Gen, PG)

Ronon gets busted for Kel's murder and the Team helps him out.

Lots of banter and action and fun one-liners. I love the Ronon voice, the Teyla characterization and the way the team is really more than the sum of their (deliciously snarky) parts.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Here And There (Lorne/Mitchell, PG13)

ER vignette set back on Earth. Lorne makes a mistake on a mission and ends up needing some looking after. Character study, virtually no plot, but enjoyable.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Reflections (Gen, PG)

Vignette of the clone alt!team. No real plot just their take on their future. (I'm afraid I'm with Ronon as to how it's all going to go.) Clever, but fairly unsatisfying.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: One by One (hints at McKay/Sheppard, PG)

Highlander fusion. You have to figure that's at least a bit of a crack premise (although the one or two Methos on Atlantis fics are good), and it is, but it's still a good story. Great O'Neill and Beckett cameos and a really quite clever way the fusion is done. Fun read.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Hidden Agendas (Gen, PG)

I really liked some of the ideas in this, very clever and well thought out with all the implications considered. But, this is plot first, characterization second, and that's not my thing. I don't think I'm qualified to really say whether this works as a story or not.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Know When to Walk Away (McKay/Sheppard, past Carter/McKay, PG)

Crossover between an AU of the SGA Vegas!verse and the AR of SG1 from the episode where Carter ended up in a dystopian version of America. (AKA the one where she'd been married to McKay for five minutes.)

I like the way the author has worked the crossover here, but this is such a brief little sketch of a story--more a teaser than a tale--it's hard to call it satisfying. As an appetizer, it's very tasty.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Doors, Windows And What The Universe Does With Them (McKay/Sheppard, PG13)

Rodney breaks up with Jennifer in the way people actually do, and then behaves very Rodneyish about it all while John is busy Johning around, not really getting it. All of which is told very well with a convincing timetable. Excellent team moments and a few good Teyla and Ronon one-liners. Good read.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Rescue (Gen, PG-13)

Lorne captured and narrating his rescue to a comic book villain is an interesting concept and this is really well written, but I need an explanation for the bloodthirsty amoral murderousness of John and crew. None is offered beyond, there's no one to stop them now that Earth isn't in charge. I think this is a kind of fantasy story that I just don't get.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Walk in the Woods (Gen, PG13)

Teyla and Jennifer adventure in the woods. Short and simple, but fun. Slice of life in Pegasus rather than any plot or character development.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: The Kiss: A Fairy Tale Story (McKay/Sheppard, Lorne/Zelenka, PG)

Cute sleeping beauty fusion with Atlantis. I liked this more than I usually do this sort of thing. Not a lot of plot, but a nice subversion of the underlying tropes of the fairy tale.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Nothing Else Matters (Dex/Sheppard, PG13)

I like Dave Sheppard stories, so I had to read this one. It's got good action, some nice family moments, some good John/Ronon.

The story needs a re-edit and the author seems to know that, so hopefully it will get cleaned up at some point, but it's very rough. Good base there though. ETA: It seems highly unlikely the author will bother to re-post this, so definitely not reccing this fic.

Vampire fic. Amusing and a little schmoopy. Like the low-key tone and the "talk" at the end was fun. John makes the perfect lazy vampire.

Cute team vignette. Nice in character banter, especially the dryly snarky Teyla.

A bit of a tear-jerker, but not maudlin. Teamy goodness abounds. Lots of dry wit and not too obnoxious smartass--hey, Rodney and Ronon are there, and IC, so... Sad, and bittersweet at times, but enjoyable if you're into SGA for the core Team.

John/Ronon established relationship. I find ER fics a little hard to get into when I've been out of a fandom for a while. I like this a lot. I like the kink scene woven into real life, and I could use Ronon to get through the holidays, I'm just sayin'. I'm missing the emotional connection to this pairing that I used to have though, but a lovely little look at a very loving relationship.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Now That You Mention It (McKay/Sheppard, NC-17)

Kink scene. First time D/S with Rodney as a really Rodneyesque sub in the way I like. John as a dom I need selling on, not because I think like 90% of fandom that he's some natural sub, but because doing any kind of kink is very exposing of your inner self and I think he'd need some easing in to it.

I can't read humiliation kink like I think I'm meant to. I don't find anything Rodney does is this story humiliating, and I'm not sure why he does, since the acts are assumed to be humiliating. So the kink scene itself is a little off-key to me. More a not for me, than not a good story.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: The Hunters (Keller/McKay UST, mostly gen, PG13)

Really fantastic action adventure story where Jennifer, Rodney and Teyla have one of those peaceful away missions the show loved to give us. There's violence and gore--but not gratuitous, it just sets the stakes and makes the heroics mean something.

This is Jennifer from Missing and from Trio here being an excellent doctor and a not very good adventurer, doing it anyway because she has to. Teyla is fabulous--fucking awesome in fact--getting it done with her bare hands when she has to, and then showing how much computer stuff she does know.

Seriously, this is some of the best episode-like fiction I've ever read, better than the show because this is nothing like Whispers. This is what Whispers should have been.

This is not a shippy fic, just Jennifer figuring out that maybe she and Rodney can have a thing.

• Stargate Atlantis Secret Santa 2010 - Fic: Hello, Don't Go (Lorne/Mitchell, background Sheppard/Ronon implied, PG13)

The John Ronon is blink and you'd miss it--this is a Cam/Evan story. Evan's back on Earth for Christmas and on the plus side, he gets to be with Cam. On the minus, everything seems a little off somehow.

Lovely holiday story with a nice dry sense of humour and a whole bunch of great moments. Warm, but not too sweet.
